I can't believe I'm actually doing this....

Before I contunue, I must confess a couple things.  First, I'm not a big fan of blogs.  Yes, I have read a few, but only Razor with an Edge with any regularity.  (Yeah, I'm a Dallas Stars fan.  Go Stars!!)  I think personal blogs are a cry for help, sorry if I offend anyone.  Journalistic blogs, techie blogs, blogs that provide useful information on the other hand are okay.  My aim for my contributions to this blog, apart from the Mrs., is to chronicle the journey of our 'startup'' from a technical aspect, with maybe a bit of humor and/or anecdotal side trips here and there.

And not to get too personal, but my second confession is that I am a procrastinator!!  I start out strong, but fizzle out real fast and getting that spark back is a monumental task.  When the Mrs. had this idea I was going gang busters, but then life decided to interrupt things and I found excuse after excuse as to why i hadn't finished developing the site.  But now it's put up or shut up time, and my own challenge to finish something I've started whether it be good, bad or ugly.

So stick around if you'd like.  Not sure how often I'll 'blog', but I'll try to do it at least once a week.  This should be about as 'personal' as I get, and hopefully i won't become one of those bloggers I am no fan of.  If I do, you have my permission to slap me out of it.

All for now....

Mr.

Baby Steps

So I've spruced the place up a bit. It still looks a cross between starving actor and cash poor student, but it will do for now. Pull up an orange crate and let's talk business.

At this time I'm currently involved in the work a day world, nurturing my own start up (nontechnical, sorry!) and well, life, but hopefully Mr. Bandwagon will stop by soon and start talking the fun stuff. Meanwhile, Ms. Bandwagon will keep scouring the web for the latest and greatest wisdom of interest to those of us trying to make our niche in the Entrepreneurial World.

In the spirit of the briliant insight of Mr. Kawasaki let's see if we confident overachiever types can help each other out in our attempts at innovation. I love searching the internet, and will try and make this a value added site, as well as... pure entertainment value as we fall on our faces time and again. Let me know if I can help. And don't be afraid to share your advice with me. We'll take all the help we can get, and I'd love this not to be just entertainment or information, but perhaps a quirky mix of both. In fact, my first tip: Read Mr. Kawasaki's blog and The Church of the Customer blog from cover to cover. Really. Required reading, I think.

So 'fess up, share with me and our readers (har har) what makes your business life easier. I've included three businesses over thar on the left that do it for me, they're 3 that we just couldn't do without, and I think, pretty darn innovative. But it's a big, beautiful world out there....

Until next time,

Ms. Bandwagon

We Who....

There's one problem with being a pinch-penny. You're about to see a classic example.

I didn't want to pay for multiple authors. Of course then it appears that Bandwagon has but one author. And in fact, to this point, it does. However somewhere down the line, Mr. Bandwagon will chime in.

I figured we needed some way to identify whether Mr. Bandwagon or Ms. Bandwagon was posting. He liked none of my ideas. We finally after much bouncing and kvetching came up with a day late and dollar short. Which fits in an oddball sort of way.

Of course in the course of writing this post I've taken to calling us Mr. and Ms. Bandwagon, so....

Aw hell, I think you'll know who's who.

Out of the gate....

Welcome to Bandwagon Air. I'm you're Captain and Co-pilot this evening...

Gah, that's too kitschy even for me.

Roughly 2 years ago, I had a "brilliant" idea for a website. Since I'm merely the creative side of the house, the tech skills have fallen exclusively on my husband's shoulders. Since he's an employed and rather overworked programmer, it's taken us more than 2 years, and still no launch date in sight. Meanwhile, my idea, including the catch phrase, has somehow found it's way to an established website (grumble grumble).

However I can with all due modesty promise our execution of the concept should be much more user-friendly. They can be first, we'll settle for being best. :)

In the interest of finishing what we start, we decided to carry on. Where this little start up will take us, if anywhere, is anyone's guess. Meanwhile, it's been a learning experience, and in some ways, a whole lot of fun.

Since we're (hopefully, grumble grumble) nearing the point of beta testing this puppy, I thought we could share our experiences with the blogosphere, perhaps picking up some insights along the way, and serving as a cautionary tale to other aspiring internet kingpins. And somewhere down the road, we may actually have a public (cough, choke, chuckle) to announce our long, long, long, long (you get the picture) awaited launch to.
